It’s not that great chicken wings can’t be found outside of Buffalo. What sets Buffalo apart is that here, great wings can be found *everywhere*. Still, these iconic spots are all worth a trip.
Pro tips: we ask for our wings “crispy” here, and you should too. Don’t order ranch. Wings come hot, medium, or mild; there is no “buffalo sauce”. Don’t sleep on 1/2 an order of BBQ wings “thrown on the pit” and tack on an order of pizza logs for a true Buffalo delicacy.
Weird, grungy, and no-frills. This is a quintessential Buffalo dive bar and the wings are perfect every time. They’re good enough to get our endorsement despite this being only job Jenna was ever fired from.
Buffalonians’ wing loyalty is split between the two OG heavyweights: Anchor Bar and Duff’s. While the Deckers are a Duff’s family, we respect wing history. Anchor Bar is home of the chicken wing and is worth a visit for that reason alone.
Order them crispy and expect them saucy. This longstanding Anchor Bar rival just does it better in our opinion, especially at the original Sheridan Drive location. Plus, the wings just hit different from their iconic wooden bowls.
While outside of Buffalo proper, Bar Bill has risen through the ranks to become one of the city’s top contenders. It has even become the Deckers’ recent go-to spot. Honorable mention for best bleu cheese!
File this one under “great wings everywhere.” While not specifically known for its wings, Cole’s is a Buffalo institution and a great place to spend a visit. Plus, they let you add a “side” of wings to any meal so you can try another Buffalo classic like beef on weck.
